Independent Verification & Validation

Independent Assurance You Can't Get Wrong

The Challenges We Solve

Large-scale technology programs carry risks across requirements, architecture, development, testing, security, and deployment. When quality and readiness are assessed only within the delivery process, issues can remain undiscovered until later stages of the program. Independent verification and validation provide objective oversight to identify risks earlier, validate requirements and quality, and improve confidence in program readiness.

Our Approach

InfoPeople provides an independent, evidence-based assessment of program quality, risk, and readiness, separate from the teams responsible for system delivery. Our approach evaluates requirements, design, testing, performance, compliance, and implementation of readiness to provide stakeholders with objective visibility throughout the program lifecycle.

Our Independent Verification & Validation Capabilities

Independent
Testing & QA

Objective testing of system functionality and quality, conducted by a team with no stake in build decisions.

Requirements &
Design Validation

Verifying that requirements are complete and testable, and that the design satisfies them before costly rework.

Risk-Based Assessment
& Audit Support

Structured risk assessments and documentation to support internal audits or regulatory review of program status.

Test Automation &
AI-Driven QA

Automated and AI-assisted testing approaches that increase coverage and catch issues faster than manual testing alone.

Regulatory
Compliance Validation

Assessing whether a system meets the specific regulatory or contractual requirements it's being built against.

FAQs

Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) is the practice of having a team organizationally and functionally separate from a system's delivery team assess whether that system meets its requirements (verification) and fulfills its intended purpose (validation). IV&V is often mandated on large-scale, mission-critical, or government IT programs specifically because it removes the conflict of interest inherent in a vendor validating its own work. InfoPeople provides IV&V services including independent testing, requirements validation, and regulatory compliance assessment for enterprise and public-sector programs.

Verification confirms that a system was built correctly according to its specified requirements ("did we build the system right?"). Validation confirms the system actually meets the user's real needs and intended purpose ("did we build the right system?"). IV&V assesses both, independently.

On many government and public-sector IT programs, IV&V is a contractual or statutory requirement, particularly for large-scale or mission-critical systems. Requirements vary by agency, program size, and jurisdiction - InfoPeople can help confirm applicable requirements for a specific program.

Standard QA testing is typically performed by or closely tied to the delivery team building the system. IV&V is performed by a team that is organizationally and functionally independent from that delivery team, specifically to remove the conflict of interest in self-assessment.

Ideally, at the requirements and design stage - not just before go-live. Starting IV&V early allows requirements gaps and design flaws to be caught while they're inexpensive to fix, rather than after significant development investment.
